Ahoy-hoy! Patterns & Computery Things!

It’s almost November. Welcome to the land of “better film that content on your lunch break or it’s artificial light for you!”

So. I have been less active with making content. This week I got my website truly up and running by getting my Petrova pattern listed for sale! So if you have any reservations about Etsy, you can buy the pattern securely here. I really need to get on sending out a newsletter too.

If you notice any funkiness or dead links on the site please do reach out! I am trying to keep it pretty simple as it’s a lot to remember to update. And of course if you have any issues with the buying-the-pattern stuff, let me know.

On the pattern design front, my next pattern will be called Fairbanks and I am almost done writing it! Then it will go to the tech editor, and then I will have a call for pattern testers. I’m so excited for this one! When you see it you’ll know it was me! It’s inspired by a family trip to Alaska a few years ago. Wait, it’s been 5 years now. Wow, time flies. I don’t have a specific release date in mind, and if I’m kind of wondering if it should wait until January. I imagine most quilters are up to their ears in Christmas gifts in December and aren’t excited for a new pattern. (Not this girl, I did not make any Christmas quilts this year!)

I started a couple of other patterns since Petrova. With the first, I just was not getting consistent results between 3 quilters (myself and 2 others) when it came to the block sizing so that quilt is half-quilted and in quilt purgatory, maybe forever. I might actually rip out all of the quilting if I don’t finish it soon, because I used the Catnap Hexie wideback on it and that is some of my faaaaaavorite wideback and I can’t waste it! As for the top, it was also all solids with no background, simple design, weird construction, and it kinda underwhelmed me for a sophomore pattern release. You can’t win ‘em all.

Yet another pattern, Perla, is with the tech editor now, and that will be available for free to my subscribers on my website! I really do need to get on quilting that one! It's a simple jelly-roll and/or fat quarter and/or yardage friendly quilt pattern that I drafted for National Sew a Jelly Roll Day! I didn’t finish it that day, but I could have had I not taken a 5-hour break to go to a Banana Balls game! It’s a super quick make.

I can’t wait to share Perla and Fairbanks with you soon!

I have been feeling a burst of creative and get-admin-things-done energy this week. Those 2 things normally fight one another if I’m being honest! So I’m taking advantage while before it all goes POOF! If you need me, I’ll be staring at my laptop screen in the dark!

On the actually sewing front, I just chose some Speckled from my stash for the next Toad Circle Mystery Quilt Along, “On a Lark” by Julia Walchs. I really enjoyed the mystery last time around so I am staying unspoiled again. Here’s my pull, what do you think?
